The HUMOR Project will be launching HUMOR
CRUISE 2006
&
Carol Channing Receives The National Humor Treasure Award
The First
Lady of Musical Comedy will be adding another honor to her storied
career from The HUMOR Project, Inc., which is the first organization in
the world to focus full-time on the positive power of humor. More than
two million people throughout the United States and abroad have attended
their programs. To celebrate their 50th annual international program,
The HUMOR Project will be launching HUMOR CRUISE 2006, which will sail
from Miami to The Bahahahamas from March 31-April 3.
Carol Channing will be
sailing on this “Laugh Boat” as the featured guest and will enchant,
enlighten, and entertain with her one-woman show “The First 80 Years Are
the Hardest!” After her performance, Dr. Joel Goodman and Margie Ingram
will present Ms. Channing with the National Humor Treasure Award (on
April 1, of course). Goodman, who is founder and Director of The HUMOR
Project, notes that Ms. Channing, who just turned 85, is “a lively,
laughter-inviting, living legend personification of the theme of this
fun-in-the-sun-seminar HUMOR CRUISE: Adding Years to Your Life and Life
to Your Years.”
The HUMOR Project will be
making a significant donation in Carol’s honor to the Doctor Carol
Channing Endowment of the Arts, a magnificent campaign to support fine
and performing arts in schools. As a way of spreading the word on this
important Endowment, The HUMOR Project has also arranged a variety of
programs the week before the cruise in its hometown of Saratoga Springs,
New York.
On March 24, the Saratoga County Arts Council is hosting a
wine-and-cheese reception at which Mayor Valerie Keehn will be honoring
Ms. Channing with the Key to the City to thank her for a lifetime of
bringing joy, smiles, laughter, and music to millions of people. The
Mayor will issue a Proclamation in Saratoga Springs naming March 24-31
as “Celebrate Carol Channing Week.”
