Channing, Modesto, You're My Hometown (CD Single/DVD
Single)
Single-song releases by musical
theater stars are rare. This one is by the rare talent of Carol
Channing, sounding every bit the uniquely irrepressible personality
she has long established. What a happy discovery to find that a
special item has quietly emerged. "Modesto, You're My Hometown!" is
a treat. Just listening to this song, you'll feel her smile and it's
contagious. Carol sounds fine and fizzy celebrating the pleasures of
her California town.

The continual decline in our cultural bonds within
communities stretching from Oregon to Mexico, can be traced in part
to the lack of attention on the Arts in public education. Studies
have conclusively provided the statistical information that students
with an art education are better students overall.

to have you here where you belong..."
Chapman University President James L. Doti looked like a man who
had just won the lottery. How many others can say they've been
serenaded by a Broadway legend with a personalized version of her
signature song?
Doti and his campus had landed something far better than a mere
lottery win.

and other programs increasingly force a teach to the test mentality
that emphasizes measures of reading and math
scores over a broader education. But what
influence does teaching the music and the arts really have on a
child's ability to learn other things?
